Last night, I stayed up way later than I would have liked, doing homework after the random Thursday football game. It made me question homework in general. Why can't we learn everything we need to in school? School already consumes about 8 hours of the day, so why should it continue to consume my time after school hours? I honestly think I would rather have longer school days or fewer breaks and never have homework. I don't mind going to school at all. It's going home afterwards and doing all my homework that I really hate.

I watched the French film "Amelie" tonight. It was fantastic! It was very interesting because it was foreign and seemed unlike any American film I have seen. The film style was slightly crude and very original and the color scheme seemed to imitate lomography. The story itself was intricate, with many different characters, but was about the simple pleasures of life. Amelie is a girl who is happy when she can make other people happy. She strives to fix everyones problem but neglects her own life. In the end, everyone is happy, including Amelie. I paid more attention to the film because it was all in French and I had to read the subtitles the whole time. It wasn't possible for me to do something else and just listen. It was a great, thought-provoking film and I highly recommend it to anyone willing to read subtitles.
