Imagine this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ for an hour.
11/22/09- So our 2 performances of Romeo and Juliet were this weekend and I think it went really well. I was amazed that the work held up so well even in modern times, but I guess that shows that love and sadness are two constant emotions in human life that we will always have and understand. Thankfully, we had a great turn out, with an almost full house Friday night and a decent amount of audience members on Saturday night. However, i was rather angered by the ignorance of some of our audience members, the first night especially. The majority of the "ignorant ones" were our student population that came to see the show. Throughout the entire performance they talked almost non-stop! I felt like a teacher in front of a class of overly-sociable students, in that I thought no one was really paying attention. One especially ignorant moment was when Mercutio was murdered on stage in a sword fight and, I kid you not, the audience burst out laughing. I was very unhappy with the students, but at least they were supportive and I'd certainly rather have an unruly audience than no audience at all. Saturday was a different story. We had a smaller crowd, but they were much more appropriate and I felt like they really understood what was going on. They were almost the perfect audience until right as Juliet stabbed herself SOMEONE'S PHONE WENT OFF! I could not believe that someone had not thought to silence their phone. People can be so ridiculous arrogant and this clearly shows that. Regardless, it was still a great, very fun experience and Mr. Albrecht said it was "the best performance to date that I can put my name on, cell phones be damned."
