christmas time

12/23/09- Woo it’s break time! We started a Spanish project on the Mayan civilization in Spanish today that I’m supposed to work on over break, which sucks, but at least the topic is interesting. I have to study their beauty for my group. Their idea of beauty was so freakish by today’s standards which makes them very interesting. They thought it was beautiful to flatten their foreheads with boards and dangle beads in front of their kids eyes so that they would be forever cross-eyed! It seems almost sadistic by today’s standards. It just should that cultural differences span not only areas but also time periods. It’s so incredible that we evolved from their warped vie of beauty into our still warped view. We think twig thin women with big lips and perfect skin are beautiful when they are really very unhealthy. Wouldn’t it make more sense if we viewed healthy people as the most beautiful? Then people wouldn’t transform their bodies into strange unhealthy creatures just so that they would be socially acceptable.

12/25/09- Today is the supposed day of Jesus’s birth. However, I just read an article saying that scientifically Jesus was almost certainly born sometime in July. I think this shows how likely it is that some religions could just be cons. So either Jesus really was the son of God or he was a brilliant con man. However, Jesus should not be considered the con man. Mary is the women behind the operation. Potentially, Mary got knocked up by some traveler and didn’t want to admit it to her husband. So she pretended like God knocked her up and gave her a little baby so that he could save the world. She obviously raised him, telling him this and everyone at school probably thought he was pretty fly. So jesus was really convinced that he was the son of God and told people this. In the end, so many people believed him because he believed himself, and he wouldn’t seem like he was lying. Mary only every felt bad when Jesus died as a result of her lies. Her motive was obviously the fame she gained from being the mother of the Savior. But this is purely hypothetical…
